IN OTHER WORDS:
Fireproof Match is a tight three-piece band fronted by Kirsty McCafferty, playing guitar most of the time and piano when she feels like it. Completing the line up are Alistair and Euan Macdonald on drums and bass respectively. All three sing live to recreate the vocal harmony that characterises their first EP ‘This Broken Sky’.
Formed in 2009 off the back off a spontaneous jam session at a house party, they set about writing and recording music, fueled by energy drink and a love of cheese. In September 2009 they chose four self-penned songs and headed for the Foundry Music Lab in Motherwell to record with Sandy Jones, sound engineer for Wet Wet Wet. Showcasing the completed work on the web, podcasts and local radio has provided enthusiastic feedback for the marriage of surreal lyrics with soaring melodies on ‘This Broken Sky’.
With a year’s worth of gigs behind them, and new material being produced all the time, Fireproof Match are seeking to make 2011 the year when they step up their game, and take their music to a wider audience.
